Founded in 2023 by Juan Quintero and Mateo Diaz, La Murga Ensamble is a Salsa-based Latin music collective in the heart of Montreal’s vibrant music scene.

La Murga was born out of a longing: a longing to celebrate Salsa history, to honour our Latin community, and to share the lively musical traditions we grew up with in our hometowns in Colombia. And, of course, to dance!

With the help of our resident DJ collective Tumbao, we bring together some of the city's most passionate Salsa and Afro-Latin musicians, along with all-vinyl DJs from around the world (with some of the craziest record collections you’ve ever seen!). We offer the first event of our kind in Montreal: an open and welcoming space aimed specifically at capturing that magic that is at the heart of Salsa—the dynamic moment when dancer and musician meet, when people are united by a shared rhythm.
